In this day and age the majority of children spend some time online every day. Computers are everywhere, in the home, at school, in the library and even on mobile phones. Any self respecting parent is sure to be worried about exactly what their children are up to online, are they visiting adult themed websites, who are they chatting to on Facebook/Instant Messaging. Just how do you stop them from getting into things you don’t want them to or talking to people with less than innocent motives?

With that in mind I thought I would cover a few of the tools and methods I have come across when setting up PC’s for people with children who will be using the computer.

Everybody loves getting something for free right? Well at the moment I know of two things you can get for free that are both extremely useful.

First of all their is Avarton Software’ Air Sharing app for the iPhone. I’ve had an iPhone for about a month now and its pretty much the best puchase I have made in the last few years. The ease with which it sync’s it’s self with my emails, diary and contact list on my Mac is amazing. It’s useful to have access to my diary especially as I am on the road a lot. But Air Sharing brings something even better to the iPhone, with Air Share installed any computer running Windows, Mac or Linux can mount your iPhone as a wifi device and then transfer files to it just like you would any other file storage on your next work via the explorer/finder or alternatively you can access it for downloading only via your web browser.
