Following on from my previous post about placing a div at the bottom of your lay out as a foot I thought I would also share with you another technique I’ve found that creates a footer for your site. This one is slightly different though, it creates a footer that is always at the bottom of the browser screen but not necessarily the page. Effectively it creats a fixed bar across the page that is always in the same location no matter where a person scrolls to. Continue reading »
The big G comes forth once more with some new tech. The blogsphere has been alive with talk for while over just what Google Wave will actually do. Well if you’ve got just short of 90 minutes to kill this vidoe will walk you through some of the features of Google’s new baby Continue reading »
Remote support utilities are one of the things I find very useful in my normal working life. I’ve spoken before about Teamviewer and Logmein Rescue. It’s so much easier to support a client when you can see what they are seeing on their screen. The biggest problem with both Teamviewer and Logmein Rescue is their cost. There not particularly expensive, but if your a small IT company with a few distributed clients it might be too much of a stretch to your budget to afford them. Ammy Admin is a free utility that provides much of the functionality of the paid for apps, but at no cost. Continue reading »
I’ve always being slightly skeptical about the debate over Global Warming. I feel that that people on both sides of the argument have questionable reasons for their feelings on the subject. The oil companies obviously don’t want people to believe in it, but then on the other side you have people who perhaps see this as a way to political capital, to keep themselves in the media spotlight and in the public mind. Don’t get me wrong I’m not against cutting are CO2 emissions, I’m just questioning whether we should believe everything. Isn’t it only right that we look at contradicting information as well? I’ve spoken before about portable applications that I like to carry with me on a usb drive just to make my life easier. Well as it’s been a while since I covered them, the utilities on my stick have changed some what. Some have fallen out of favour, others have taken their place. With that in mind I thought I would put together a more upto date list of what I find it useful to carry around with me.
You’d have had to have been on the moon for the last few months or dead not to have noticed that the world seemed to go into economic melt down.
Personally I find the whole mess that the financial institutions have managed to get themselves into rather disturbing. These are people that are supposed to be responsible for managing massive amounts of money and yet it seems that they cant quite grasp the concept of not borrowing more than you can afford, or equally as likely they didn’t care so long as they made money personally. Perception is a powerful influence on the way we as humans view the world. It defines how we process the information we gather in our day to day life. How we perceive something can alter how we react to something. The same picture or group of words can cause drastically different reactions depending on how are perceptions have been altered recently. This is why it’s always worth a second look, don’t always trust your first instincts or the first thought that pops into your head on viewing something. One thing I feel that really demonstrates this point is the picture below.
