The Pinged Hobbit

The surface looks clean, till something rubs against it. Then no matter what it is thats touched it, each little raised point changes colour, it becomes a drity little spot. You paint it and the flat bits are fine but after a while most of it is fine, yet again the peaks trip you up, they fade and begin to go back the white.

And who the hell likes it anyway. You look in most houses in the UK and i bet you can find at least one room in it that has woodchip wallpaper if the house is more than 10 years old. Yet no one admits to liking it. If thats the case who the hell puts in up in all these houses, is there some kind of woodchip fairy (akin to the Verruca Fairy from Terry Prachett’s Hogfather novel). Or is it a like a vampire’s hair in an Anne Rice novel, you remove it one night and when you wake the next days it’s regrown magically. Who knows, all I know is I detest the stuf. Any other paper when you attack it with a wallpaper steamer and a scrapper it comes off easily, but oh no not woodchip its slow going to remove this contribution of Satan to the wall paper industry. It clings to the wall for dear life, unless you want it to stay up of course, then if falls off for fun.

Yes incase you haven’t guessed it, I’m in the middle of decorating a room. I’m turning my geek hideaway into something a little more light and modern rather than the cave it currently is. I’m hoping this change of habbitate will have an effect on my commitment to projects giving me space to work where i can run both my Mac (when it’s fixed), my PC and my laptop or I can have a book open to take notes in/from. Unusually for me, when I decided how I was moving the room about, I’ve built it around where I intend to put the most important feature, i.e. My computers, then my normal approach where i worry about where the bed is going and the pc is an after thought.
